svar's Issues

error: Couldn't set HW parameters

When svar is launched, I have the following error:

error: Couldn't set HW parameters: Set all possible ranges: Operation not permitted

Any suggestion?

Mp3 support

Hi, do you think that you could include a mp3 format support ?
Maybe more CPU intensive, but way less disk space.

thanks,

Sebastian

warning: pcm_readi buffer overrun

Hi,
I am giving a try to svar, as it seems more convenient and accurate than my scripts using sox.
And indeed, it works fine.

But, is there a way to avoid resource conflict, when I am trying to use svar in parallel with motion ?
I don't have any problem to use motion and sox in parallel in order to capture both video and sound records.
When I try the same with svar , the following message scrolls infinitely in terminal :

warning: pcm_readi buffer overrun

And yes, I am using the same and only one webcam USB-connected to my machine, for all these commands.

Thank you for suggestions.

Help with usage...Devices, Sig-Level, and Duration

Looking forward to getting this working. Thanks for making this. Here are my questions:

  1. How do I find devices I can use? I have a couple USB cassette players and then also want to use line-in on the sound card. How do I know what the string should be to submit to -D?

  2. how do i use the sig-level? Is that in DB?

  3. is there a way to specify a duration I want it to run so it turns off automatically? How should I be closing the process?

Thanks

Deep

Full date in timestamp

I just started using this great app, thank you for making it! Is it possible that the output file name (aka timestamp) includes at least the month, but preferably the full date?

Thanks,
Balazs
