Currently, the protocol only supports setting a color for a given target.
For convenience, increased stability and reduced network traffic, it would make sense to conceive and implement a more feature-rich protocol.

Requirements:

• Make TCP the default transport layer protocol to increase stability
• Enable clients to fall back to UDP for realtime applications
  • For simplicity reasons, just listen on two ports simultaneously and trust the client to not send garbage
  • As a future improvement, switching protocols may be integrated into the protocol itself, similar to http upgrade header
• Add methods like fade, flash, pulse, strobe etc. for commonly used color/lighting effects
  • Decide on a data format / syntax
  • Signal the client when the operation has been completed
  • Enable the client to interrupt execution (for near-realtime applications)
