I don't think Middleware.onPublishIn was implemented in that alpha version, that is one of the reasons why that is alpha version not everything in place yet.
About receiving publish events those should go directly to the clients...
I would suggest to wait for full release before using library in production or use Version 3 (maximum runs on node 10) which has more stable api. Here is the wiki https://github.com/ClusterWS/ClusterWS/wiki
