The rails commit that changed the call is rails/rails@02c814c
I added a line note on that commit there with a suggested fix.
This was just released with the railties 4.1.0.rc1 gem

This is fixed in rails/rails#14132, and is not a bug in this gem (it's horrible to support two method signatures, and I would much rather avoid it).

The fix for this issue (rails/rails@3624ff7) did not make it into the 4.1.0.rc1 release but it is in 4-1-stable.

Confirmed that generators don't work for haml-rails (0.5.3) using rails (4.1.0.rc1) but they work with rails (4-1-stable) as of now.
