version 0.3 can't be installed on ubuntu 16.04 about rsqlserver HOT 8 CLOSED

when loading previously installed version 0.2, the R session crashes immediately, which is very very weird as it never happened before.

so it might be a problem just related to the machine i used to upgrade rsqlserver from 0.2 to 0.3

problem confirmed on another clean installed ubuntu 16.04 machine. the error message is the same.

i have installed the package successfully on an ubuntu 16.04 machine, on which a not-updated openjdk package (8u121) is installed. the newest is 8u131. it might be the reason.

i manually degraded the java (jre & jdk) version of the initial machine to 8u77, but it didn't work. it still throws errors.

I'm having the same problem. I tried to downgrade to openjdk-7 from a ppa, that didn't work either.

i got the answer. switch the kernel version from the newest 4.4.0-81 back to a slightly older 4.4.0-62, everything works fine. but it's really weird.

I doubt this is an issue with the package...does the same thing happen when you try to install say RJDBC?

the previous kernel version of 4.4.0-81 is 4.4.0-79, which i tried just now on the first machine and everything works fine. i don't know what the guys have done in the kernel and how such a change could eventually affect a R package running on top of jvm.
