I've noticed that this app is sending and receiving tons of packets which cause a very high battery and data usage. I am using background service with 10s delay, I know that I can increase the delay but I think the app shouldn't consume that much. Maybe you should make that the icons and scan area circles and other images would be saved in cache and then taken from there if needed (if it isn't done this way yet). We should find a way to make it more efficient.

I'd like to ask you for something tho, now in your app you are using some pixelated icons, that gets very blurry and very unreadable for me. I really have to guess what Pokemon is that. May I suggest using or at least giving an option to use Shuffle icons? I even prepared them for different kind of screen densities, here is zip file:

PS. Each icon is exactly 32dp.

"PokeAlert service is running" in the tray should take you to the app if tapped.
When you tap it right now (2.3.7), it does nothing. If I want to get back into the app, I have to find it on my home screen again, when there's a perfectly useful notification that should bring up my pokemap if tapped.

I just wondering how to use multiple account make scan faster.
Mine is Google acc, I create a PTC acc for PokeAlert.
PTC acc stay at same place, nomatter where I go PokeAlert will alert the pokemon at that place(this another problem I would like to ask)...
All I need to do is create another PTC acc?
If those PTC location are at same place, will they still work?

2.2.9:

1. Turn on background service.
2. Go to "notification filter".
3. Notice all 151 mons are selected. Deselect some or all. Click "save".
4. Notifications are still being gotten for the mons you deselected. Return to "notification filter". Notice that yet again, all 151 mons are selected.

This renders the app completely useless. I tried variations such as changing the filter only when the service is off and so on, but it always reverts to 151 selected when turned on.

As of now, when you are notification scanning in the background, only the Pokemon you checked in Notification Filter will show on the map. I think it would be an improvement to still show the Pokemon of the Map Scan Filter on the map even while notification scanning. Only using the notification filter for notifications. That would be awesome :)

I think it could be useful to have it as an option.

I have tried installing multiple version (2.2.2, 2.2.9, 2.3.0, 2.3.1) the result is the same every time. It looks like it treats the error to enable the background services as a fatal error and it crashes.

I'm using a Nexus 5; Android 6.0.1 Security patch 8.5.2016

My app Ui is messed up as shown on the pic as the start scan is on top of the relocate of the map my mobile is xperia Z5 premium dual sim

Some users might want to cover more terrain, or they might want to scan quickly using a smaller radius.

Maybe limiting the radius to these options would help, to make things easier and minimize server abuse?
Scanning Radius:

• small (300m)
• normal (500m)
• large(650m)

Until the last few updates I used to switch between PokeAlert and the game to make sure I was at the right spot or moving in the right direction.
When switching back to PokeAlert the map still showed the pokemons it had found at the previous scan... but since a few days whenever I return to PokeAlert the map is cleared (as if I had pressed the broom button) and I need to rescan to see the pokemons again
Is it normal, is there something to change in the settings or is it a bug ?

Map Filter stoped working after updating from 2.2.9 to 2.3.0 and 2.3.1 so map is now being filled with magnemite and voltorbs :/

Also attempted to uninstall and reinstall fresh and no change still map is flooded with magnemite and voltorb which is common in my area!

Would be nice if the timer is

1. in minutes and seconds and not only in seconds
2. counting down without touching the mon again
3. visible without touching the mons

Bugs:

1. The countdown option in the settings is only for map labels, not for notifications.
2. The labels of the mon on the map doesn't get changed if I change the timer settings. Should be updated with the current setting even if the mon is already on the map.

Hi, thanks for the app.

Since 2.3.7 update and the use of the faster API, I receive notifications for pokemon that are outside of the search range.
I tried 70m and 120m and I'm getting notifications for pokemon showing at 150 to 300 meters.
I cleared the app cache and data, still the same problem. I guess it's because the first API used to be limited in the search range, but now it can scan a whole place and is not limited by the range option.

Used to work fine in 2.3.5-4, now I get multiple notifications for a single mon - when running manual scans when it drops back to background scanning. I counted 4 for a "no time" mon that did turn into a timed mon when below 15 min and it was not cleared when it should have been. Are not the returned locations absolutely identical each scan? Also think that foreground scans should issue notifications esp given how hard it is to see which mon the icon is - easy to miss what you might be looking for, esp when there are heaps of mons on top of each other. Thanks.

Since version 2.2.2, I get multiple notifications for the identical Pokémon (same location and despawn time), in intervals of a few minutes. Looks like I get a notification when the same spot is revisited by the search, independent of whether the Pokémon is newly discovered or was found before by the search. This issue did not exist in 2.2.1!

Tried rebooting. Tried re-entering account info. Tried clearing cache.
Version 2.10 and 2.2.1 scan service works.
Version 2.2.3 and 2.2.4 scan service doesn't work for me.
Manual scans in all app versions finds Mons.
Samsung Galaxy S6, Android 6.0.1

Edit: Ok, question. How does the "Map Scan Filter" work? Checked Mons get filtered out or get shown?
When I "Unselect all" and "save", next time I open they're all checked again. If I only check one, the save works.

Final edit: I get it now. In the Map Scan Filter list, a checked Mon means it will be drawn in manual scans. Scan service only draws the Mons you have checked in the Notification Filter list. That didn't use to be like that. So, everything is working, yet it works differently. I can get used to that.

Scans are bringing up everything regardless of my filters. The notification filter still works ok just not the map.

Wasn't a problem on the previous version I was using 2.2.8

That being said, I want to thank you for all your work on this great app.

Whenever I try to add another account on 2.2.6 the app crashed every time for me. I'm using it on an S6 with 6.0.1 android.

I uninstalled PokeAlert immediately after seeing this. Please fix it. (Maybe by open source PokeAlert.)

We get pokemon right in our house. Could you allow for only a single zone scan?
I just want to know if one wanders into my house so I can catch it in the evenings, not have to run outside and around the block for pokemons.

When I launch the app, I would like to very quickly (immediately) turn notifications on or off. Ideally, it would be above the "scan" and "clear" buttons.

Trying to add extra accounts. Getting error:

"The username or password are not valid (or PokemonGo servers are down?)"

I tried several accounts, all log in to PTC website fine, Log in to the actual game fine. But still can't add.

Also tried turning notifications off and force stopping the app and restarting.

May I suggest to have the option of the map panning while the user moves about?
I know that would not always be useful, so it would be good to be able to turn that feature on and off.

Being able to have different notifications setting depending on distance to pokemon would be a nice addition as it would allow the user to say for example I'm willing to leave the house to catch a dragonite but not for a pidhey

My Map-Scan-Filter and Notification-Filter only contain 66 pokemon.

If I change the language to german, only the names in the notifications are translated, not the mons on the map.

Hello, Pokealert team. I'm really enjoying the work that you are doing, and is helping me a lot. Loving this app :D
But, after the latest update(2.3.2-2), the app closes when it begins to scan around with background auto scan on zenfone 2.
You could try to fix it?

When using the background service and kill the app and then reopen it the circles are not "redrawn". They are only redrawn at the next scan

Would be nice to have a timer like in pokevision directly under the Pokémon icon. Currently we have to touch on a mon and calculate how long it would be there.

It would be helpful to be able to choose the notification tone to distinguish alerts from other notifications.

Edit: I'd be willing to help with dev of this issue if code were included in the repo.

With 2.2.4 it was still working. Potentially the changable scan time for background scanning is not used and the delay is below 10 seconds.

the App crashes constantly after start with this 'PokeAlert - Notification for Pokemon GO closed' ERROR Message since I tried to install the new 2.3.0

Android 6.0.1
Sony Experia Z5 Compact

(already tried re-install)

the "improve location accuracy?" dialog upon starting the app cant be accepted, and cant be clicked away or denied. It will always pop up again.

Its only showing every other pokemon.
It looks like this

etc.

The Seaking appeared with no timer. I cleaned the map and rescanned and the problem reoccured.

Just wanted to say great work on the app. Really the best out there at the moment!

However, I can't get the filter to work. I've taken out all the usual stuff, saved and restarted the notifications and it still picks every last thing up so I get destroyed by notifications.

I've tried restarting the phone also.

Another questions. Anyone know how many extra accounts it supports?

Edit: Ok I've been playing around with the settings after another restart and it seems the notifications are behaving themselves but the scan still shows absolutely everything. Is that expected behaviour?

If I press the play button on the map a circle is shown, but it doesn't fit with the radius settings I made.
Additionally it would be nice to see this circle all the time, because that way we can see which area we're going to scan before we press play. Maybe with an option to disable the circle.

Well i can't use the service anymore it's simply not working.

When I press the button in the drop down to add accounts, the app crashes. It pushes me out of the app, cleans the map, and restarts the scan.

*Whoops, thought the close issue button was the cancel comment button...

It would be extremely useful if the notifications could slide briefly into the screen when a Pokemon is found and the device is unlocked.
For those who don't want this, there's a toggle to disable it per app in Android Settings.

After some time the map is full of expired mons. Would be nice if expired mons are removed from the map and notifications

Is it not installing properly? I'm not getting any errors or major issues otherwise.

When using background service it crashes after some time and then when I restart the app it keeps asking to add one or more accounts and spams this notification every few seconds even though I have 20 accounts added. To fix it I have to tap on Add Extra Accounts and then go back and manually statt the scan. But the problem reoccurs after a while. Also the background service stops scanning after some time.
