nautilus-code's Issues

Does this support multiple IDEs?

So idk if this was the intended use but I have vscode (native) and builder (flatpak), But it only shows vscode, which makes me think that, it either doesn't support multiple IDEs or there's a bug with the flatpak support. Thanks in advance!

Does not open in selected folder

What happened?

In GNOME Files 43.2, clicking "Open in VSCodium" does not open open the selected folder.

Expected behavior

Open selected folder and editor of choice.

To Reproduce

  1. Open GNOME Files
  2. Right-click on a folder
  3. Select "Open in (Editor of your choice)"

Translations

Hello, and thank you for this nice extension.

It would be nice to add i18n support, maybe with po files.

I use Gnome on my native language, and on the rightclick menu this is the only item in English, it annoys my OCD.

As it's only 2 words, it shouldn't be a big task to translate the program :)

Thank you!

context action does not handle whitespaces in path

What happened?

I opened code-oss via the context menu in a folder with a whitespace in it's path.

/home/user/software projects/project1

code-oss opened the non existing files "projects" and "project1"

Expected behavior

Instead the folder project1 should have been opened in oss-code

To Reproduce

navigate to a folder with a whitespace in it's path and open the folder in oss-code via the context menu entry

Detailed Explaination (Optional)

Maybe the behavior is explained by this: https://linuxhint.com/deal-spaces-file-path-linux/
I think in your code the path must be surrounded by quotation marks when executing the command.

Add editors

I'm vaguely surprised at the following missing editor options:

  • $VISUAL
  • $EDITOR
  • emacs
  • vi / vim / neovim

Rename some "Open in ####"

Description

Rename "Open in ####" instances where is used Code-OSS, VSCode, VSCodium and if there is support in the future VSCodeInsiders to "Open in Code" like in Windows.

Add to Open Menu (GNOME 42 and up)

image

I'm using Nautilus 43.2, which includes a open menu that I'm use to navigating to when I need to open a folder in GNOME Console. I would like to see "Open in EDITOR" here.

How to remove old installation?

I have reinstalled the extension because I couldn't find the old one.

Now i have some entry duplicated:

  • Open in VSCodium
  • Open in Builder
  • Apri in VSCodium
  • Apri in Builder

.local/share/nautilus-python/ and /usr/share/nautilus-python were empty

[FEATURE] Add intructions for local installs

Description

I think it would be nice to have the possibility to use the extension on distros like Silverblue, GNOME OS or openSUSE MicroOS, but we need instructions for how to install it in our home folder. Can you add those in the README?

JetBrains IDEs installed using JetBrains Toolbox are not detected

What happened?

I installed IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate and CLion EAP through JetBrains Toolbox, but no JetBrain IDEs appear in the Nautilus context menu. VSCode works.

Expected behavior

There's both "Open in Intellij IDEA" and "Open in CLion" in the context menu.

To Reproduce

  1. Install JetBrains Toolbox (I installed it from the AUR)
  2. Log in and install any tool in the Toolbox app
  3. Install nautilus-code from the AUR
  4. Right click on a folder

Feature Request - add option to open selected file(s)

On Windows, the context menu entry doesn't only allow opening the folder in VS Code, but it also allows to open selected file(s) in VS Code. This feature is really handy, It would be really cool if you could add this feature to this extension.

Thanks for your awesome work btw :))

"Open in VSCode" from a folder's context menu, opens the parent folder

What happened?

I use this extension on all my computers, and all except one it works as expected. I cannot figure out why it's not working correctly on this one computer.

If I right-click on a folder in nautilus, it will open the folder's parent folder in VS Code, not the folder itself.

Expected behavior

The folder I selected to "Open in VSCode" would open in VS Code.

To Reproduce

  1. Clone nautilus-code repository.
  2. Follow the installations instructions in the README.md
  3. Right click on any folder in nautilus and select "Open in VSCode"

Detailed Explaination (Optional)

I am happy to troubleshoot this issue. But I don't know how to figure out what's going on. Is there a log I can look at?
