You can base64 encode your data and send it that way, here's an example that sends a file from .Net to Node (assumed to be an jpg image in this example):
DotNet:
using System;
using System.IO;
using ElectronCgi.DotNet;
namespace Base64DotNet
{
class Program
{
static void Main(string[] args)
{
var connection = new ConnectionBuilder().Build();
connection.OnAsync<string, string>("read-file", async filePath =>
{
var fileBytes = await File.ReadAllBytesAsync(filePath);
return Convert.ToBase64String(fileBytes);
});
connection.Listen();
}
}
}
Node/Electron:
const { ConnectionBuilder } = require('electron-cgi');
const fs = require('fs');
const connection = new ConnectionBuilder()
.connectTo('dotnet', 'run', '--project', '../Base64DotNet')
.build();
connection.send('read-file', '/home/rui/Pictures/cat.jpg', (err, base64Image) => {
if (err) {
console.log(err);
return;
}
const bytes = Buffer.from(base64Image, 'base64');
fs.writeFileSync('test.jpg', bytes);
connection.close();
});

I'm assuming this works for you so I'm closing this issue
