I am trying to connect the authentication server with CHAP type but it is always failing with status 2, it is working fine with ASCII and PAP. I noticed in other languages' packages its mention that we also need to send pppId and challenge but in Node.js nothing has mentioned. Also if any other configuration is required please share it.

The chap authentication says that there is three way handshake.
The password is hashed

Does this module take care of handshake and hashing when CHAP authentication service is selected.

I noticed during testing that if the shared_secret in the sample usage code is null that the code will eventually erroneously return TAC_PLUS_AUTHEN_STATUS_PASS when being called concurrently. I've put together sample code that illustrates this:

I want to use tacacs-plus package in my project to implement user authentication and authorization process. So, I need few clarifications on the usage of this package.

1. How the tacacs-plus server (simple server.js file ) validates the user?
2. Where can we store the user details(like username, password)?
3. In the tacacs-plus server (as given example in package) file takes the username in the first request and ask for a password in the reply. So, How can we implement user validation against stored user data?

   the right(approachable) way to setup tacacs-plus server in unix and provide a IP address of the machine in tacacs-plus server.js file?
