lifetimes's Issues

Tests failing with ` - {os: ubuntu-latest, r: 'oldrel-1'} config1`

Hey @somaSystems - my knowledge of R versioning and testing is limited, so take this with a pinch of salt:

The GH actions tests (and CRAN I think) run the tests on the latest version (which I think is 4.1.2), the next version (4.2) and the latest patch of the last version (4.0.5). For reasons I haven't looked into, quantreg 5.87 is fine with the latest versions, but not with the old version.

I guess there are two questions here:

  • Does this matter for getting the package published and released on CRAN (I would have thought yes, but quantreg itself seems to fail with this older R version).
  • Do you, as a developer, care if your package doesn't work with an older R version? My view on this is that it's good to try and ensure backwards compatibility as much as possible, but incompatibilities with old versions is a problem that fixes itself with time (unlike issues with new versions).

I'm not sure how you want to proceed. You could remove this test (not sure if the issue will be a problem with CRAN, or users down the line), or just pin the version of quantreg you need.
