zerotiernas's Issues

QNAP TS-219P Support Request

From what I can find, all the QNAP packages available are x86 / 64. Would it be possible to add support for the TS-219P?

Linux BITBAY 3.4.6 #1 Wed Dec 13 10:10:47 CST 2017 armv5tel unknown

PORT_ERROR on DS218J

I reinstalled Zerotier One on my DS218J. When I joined the network, I got a PORT_ERROR message for status. I stopped and restarted the service and restarted the NAS with no change.

Zerotier version: 1.2.12-1
DSM version: DSM 6.2.2-24922

Thanks.

QNAP TS-328 ArmV8.A

Is there any code made for this model ?
If not: Can I use any other compatible ?
If not: How can I use my new Nas in ZeroTier ?
Thanks in advance for your help.

GUI desperatley needed for NASes

Since most commercial NAS users are not Linux users and shy away from any CLI use on the device, a NAS GUI is desperately needed to allow the majority to make use of this excellent tool. It is unfortunate that the XeroTier developers went away from an HTML compatible interface that could be ported to the NAS environment.

Is anyone working with the ZeroTier team to develop a Linux GUI that can be utilized on a NAS?

Requesting_configuration on Synology DS1517+

Install is going fine with zerotier-1.2.4-syn-avoton-6.1.spk
GUI is working fine but when joining a network system stays OFFLINE. and GUI shows that status staying at REQUESTING_CONFIGURATION.
If doing with the cli, got 200 join OK confirmation but still the zerotier-cli info says OFFLINE.

Doesn't start after recent Synology DSM 6.2 updates

After installing the latest DSM 6.2 security update today (DSM 6.2.1-23824 Update 4 on DS1819+), ZT is no longer working. The problem is that the tun module is no longer getting automatically loaded, and so ZT of course fails to start.

I'm not sure how other VPN packages handle this, but it seems to me that ZT's startup script needs to insmod /lib/modules/tun.ko if /dev/net/tun does not exist? Note that, AFAICT, modprobe is wholly non-functional on the Synology ๐Ÿ˜ž

Manually doing the insmod and then restarting the ZT service fixes things for me.

ZeroTier breaks after DSM update (Partially-Solved)

I have been running this perfectly on DS1817+'s for a month or so but today updated the DSM and it is no longer connecting/joining.

I removed the package and reinstalled and now on that NAS, it will not even launch.

WD EX4 (details and problem)

CPU on the EX4 shows as: Feroceon 88FR131 [56251311] revision 1 (ARMv5TE)

When installing the build for EX4, it shows "illegal instruction" when executing the commands. I suspect they're built for ARMv7?

I'll try all 3 available binaries, and see if there is any difference.

UPDATE: I also built it myself, same issue:

root@NAS / # zerotier-cli
Illegal instruction

Synology Nas'es lose virtual interface address after reboot.

I have 3 different Synology Nas units with this same issue:

  • DS916+
  • DS1718
  • DS212J

After a reboot these devices lose their virtual interface mac address, which re-lists them (un-authorized) on their respective ZeroTier networks. They are running version 1.2.8 and DSM 6.2

On Reddit somebody suggest I'd submit a issue here and suggested it might be deleting it's identity after a reboot?

Zerotier GUI on Synology shows offline

My Synology model: DS 416 play

the Zerotier GUI always shows this on my Synology Diskstation, despite it working from the command line (with sudo zerotier-cli). I am accessing this GUI through the web interface, either being connected to the same local network or through Zerotier.

QNAP TS-831x Rejects x86 code

Just bought this new NAS, a QNAP TS-831x. It won't load the x86 code telling me the platform is incompatible. It's got an Alpine AL-314 Quad-core 1.7 GHz Cortex-A15 processor. Whereas my other QNAP TS-453BT3 has a Celeron chip and gave me no hassle. Thoughts?

join button has no effect

after installing zerotier-one.spk 1.2.2 downloaded from website, upon clicking the 'join' button i had no effect. the browser console would show some 502s.

  • rebooted my syno and tried again, no effect
  • without networkid the ui complains pressing 'join', if enter networkid and click 'join' i get no effect

[Synology 1817+ (Avoton)] "Join" button has no effect / zerotier-cli command not found

Hello,

I'm using Zerotier on my Synology 1817+ with DSM 6.1.4-15217 Update 2
I have installed the package

  • zerotier-1.2.4-syn-avoton-6.1.spk and

  • zerotier-1.2.4-syn-x64-6.1.spk

but unfortunately this does not work. No effect when pressing the JOIN button on the interface, and also, accessing Zerotier via CLI results in zerotier-cli command not found

Can't use it.

Synology DS215j "join" has no effect

https://github.com/SynoCommunity/spksrc/wiki/Architecture-per-Synology-model

DS215j - synology_armada375_215j

https://www.synology.com/en-us/knowledgebase/DSM/tutorial/General/What_kind_of_CPU_does_my_NAS_have

DS215+ | Annapurna Labs Alpine AL-212 | Dual Core | 2 | Yes | Alpine4k | DDR3 1 GB

I installed the newest file from https://www.zerotier.com/download.shtml

zerotier-1.2.8r0-syn-armada375-6.1.spk

When click "join" in zerotier app totally nothing happen. No error, no info, message etc. I wish it will give some error message.

PS WebBrowser Console has no error.

v1.2.12 on Synology leaking memory

The zerotier client on my Synology, running v1.2.12 (using ZT's provided binary package), is leaking memory considerably. This is a graph from the Synology's resource monitor. The numbers on the x axis are days of the month (Feb 2019).

image

The zerotier-one process is now using ~1.2GB of RAM, so that graph shows a leak of about 50 megs a day edit: I misread the y axis 1.1G over 10 days. It would have brought down the NAS by itself within a month!

The NAS in question is connected to one ZT network.

Restarting the package/service cleared the leak ... for now.

Side note: the 1.2.12 package reports as version 1.2.13?

ZeroTier on DS414 missing in synoservice

I have installed ZeroTier One on my DS414:
DS414 | Marvell Armada XP MV78230 | Dual Core | 2 | Yes | Armadaxp | DDR3 1 GB

I have tried version for DS413j processor was similar.

Web UI looks working, but stays offline. So I have checked logs and cli.

Cli:
zerotier-cli: missing port and zerotier-one.port not found in /var/lib/zerotier-one

According to googling, that means service is not running.
sudo synoservice --list does not show zero* among installed packages.

Can I help somehow to make it work on this Synology?
Thanks

Synology DS918+ error happened when uninstall/reinstall

Hello!

DS918+ / Intel J3455 / 8G Ram

Because for move the Synology's package from HDD volume1 to volume3, I did the following operation.
Step1, uninstall all package (inculde zerotier)
Step2, set default volume to volume3 in package center settings
Step3, reinstall zerotier package (zerotier-1.2.8r0-syn-apollolake-6.1.spk)

After the step3, here is an error: zerotier can't start in GUI of package center.

The following is command line's result.

There is no official build for qoriq (ppc, freescale P1022, x13 Series) is there?
Would love to install it on my DS413 (synology_qoriq_413)

WD EX4100?

Hello, is there anyway to get zerotier on a ex4100? I've tried the steps in BUILD on multiple different computers and searched online on help, but kept on failing to run mksapkg. When I use the mksapkg from the WD folder, I usually get the error of "../mksapkg: No such file or directory"(Debian 64-bit) or "../mksapkg: line 1: syntax error: unexpected "("" (WD EX4100). And with the mksapkg provided by wd, I still get the same errors.

Issue with Synology DS218+ with DSM 6.2.2-24922

Have a Synology DS218J, I purchased a new DS218+ to use in another location. Following the 'Architecture per Synology Model' list, I download and installed the 'zerotier-1.2.12r1-syn-apollolake-6.1.spk' package.

I opened the UI and added the network I wanted. I got a 'REQUESTING_CONFIGURATION' message in the status field and no IP addresses shown. The interface showed I was offline.

I went to my network page at zerotier.com and manually added the address. The status didn't change and I was still offline.

I opened an SSH session and ran the 'zerotier-cli' command. I received a message that said, 'missing authentication token and authtoken.secret not found (or readable) in /var/packages/zerotier/target/var' .

Following a suggestion I found in another post, I ran the following command, 'sudo chown admin authtoken.secret' when I was in the '/var/packages/zerotier/target/var' directory. That got me past the error.

The problem I am having is that client program won't stay running. It runs for a few minutes and then quits. Also, when installing it, a virtual network interface was not created like all the other instances of Zerotier on other devices were.

Where did I go wrong or what's the issue that I need to deal with?

p.s. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling using the 'zerotier-1.2.12r1-syn-x64-6.1.spk' file. The results were the same.

Thanks.

Synology NAS unreachable after turning on vSwitch (until reboot)

I have a DS918+ running "DSM 6.2-23739 Update 2" with ZeroTier v1.2.8r0. One ethernet port connected.

Everything is running smoothly in general. However, when I turned on vSwitch (Control Panel->Network->Network Interface->Manage->Open vSwitch Settings->Enable Open vSwitch) I was no longer able to connect to the NAS remotely.

After turning on vSwitch and before I was able to get local, ZeroTier Central showed the NAS reporting online for days while it wasn't actually reachable through a ZeroTier connection.

Once I was local again, I logged into the NAS and saw that the ZeroTier network interface was missing from Control Panel->Network->Network Interface.

Given the above two points, it seems like part of the ZeroTier service was communicating out to ZeroTier Central, but DSM removed the network interface or something when turning on vSwitch - so it wasn't effectively online.

I rebooted the NAS and I was then able to connect to the it through ZeroTier.

Expected result:
Can still connect to NAS via ZeroTier.
If NAS isn't actually reachable via ZeroTier, ZeroTier Central wouldn't show its status as Online. But it's also not exactly offline.

Zerotier on Synology RS814 won't go online or join network

Having a very similar issue to #7 with a Synology RS814. It's an ARM architecture as well and the ZeroTier client never goes online. Using Firefox 58.0.2 but it seems more of a Synology ARM issue as the Intel Synology I have as well on the same network works fine.

36805737-2fe35992-1c8c-11e8-86f2-e4ad2c3936e7

Following the notes in the case I mention above, I checked for running processes and a log file.

I don't seem to have a watchdog process:
admin@ht-nas02:/$ ps aux | grep zerotier
root 12795 92.1 0.1 4244 920 ? R 12:49 23:17 /usr/sbin/zerotier-one -d
admin 16334 0.0 0.1 4648 796 pts/1 S+ 13:15 0:00 grep --color=auto zerotier
I have the tun device.

Haven't found the log file--it's not where I would expect. Using find . -name zerotier* from the / has revealed nothing obvious.

PORT_ERROR DS918+

I have noticed recently that ZT does not connect properly after rebooting my NAS. All preconfigured settings: network, IP, etc are there when I listnetworks, but under status it says PORT_ERROR.

Leaving and rejoining the network does not fix the problem.

The only thing that seems to work is uninstalling and reinstalling the package, and adding the new member ID to my network.

Package version I'm using is 1.2.12r1

I have tried the following:

  • [Y ] Disabling QuickConnect
  • [NA ] Disabling OpenVPN
  • [NA ] Restoring web port to default (5000/5001)
  • [Y] Restarting NAS
  • [Y] Reinstall ZT
  • Checked for presence of dev/net/tun
  • Verified that ZT is or is not running with ps aux | grep zerotier
  • confirmed that config files exist in /var/packages/zerotier/target/var
  • [Y] Issued zerotier-cli commands as root

I am aware of the following

  • [Y ] The GUI is deprecated and may not work on my particular NAS
  • [Y ] The CLI is the recommended interface for controlling ZT

Other important information

  • Model:DS918+
  • Current DSM version: 6.2.2-24922 Update 2
  • DSM version when issue was first observed:
    6.2.2-24922 Update 1

Synology no longer connects

I've used the synology addon for a few months, and noticed it doesn't work any longer. I tried leaving the network, re-joining the network, but nothing works. I deleted the object in the network dashboard, it never shows back up. Even removed the package and reinstalled, still shows able to join ok at the the linux cli, but never shows up in the dash. Logs show nothing at all useful short of start/stop of client.

Anyone else see this? Using currently DSM 6.1.2-15132 and latest 1.2.8 zerotier modules for it.
