syn.request is a Synapse X Function, not a Celery function

if you want it to work successfully do this at the start of your script;
getgenv().syn.request = request;

It probably shouldn't do that, are you using the correct port?
If you're using Express then try the port "5555" and then add on the bottom of the express code this;

app.use(5555, function() { console.log("Running on port 5555") });
