Note: in practice this is done by pushing a tag v1 to your latest 1.x.y release
git tag -fa v1 -m "Update v1 tag"
git push origin v1 --forcefrom action-wordpress-plugin-deploy.

@jmfayard is our X.Y.X tag notation not sufficient for this? Seems that parsing for tags without a leading v would ensure you see when we tag/release a major version?
