OPTIONS request to api.data.gov takes a long time about fbopen HOT 5 CLOSED

Do we really need to make an OPTIONS call for fbopen.gsa.gov? Notalone.gov doesn't, right?

@aaronsnow can speak to this better, but it looks to me like NotAlone may all be hosted on the same server, and therefore doesn't require cross-domain requests like FBOpen does. Our web interface's requests hit api.data.gov, which necessarily means that any request to our API is cross-domain.

Actually NotAlone does the same thing: JS on the web page calls api.data.gov

IIRC, only some browsers bother with the "preflight" OPTIONS request;
others skip it and go straight to the GET. But I could be mis-remembering
that.
