The result can be now saved in GeoJSON. Field names aren't truncated with this format.

This would be very useful to have in the processing algorithm quickosm:ogrdefault as well!
Possibly derive the format from the provided output path.
Having a quick look at the code, the only required change would be to use self.getOutputFromName(...).getVectorFileWriter(...), instead of QgsVectorFileWriter() in this line

Thanks for having a look. Feel free to provide a pull request and I will release the new plugin for QGIS 2.
I'm currently focusing on QuickOSM 2 for QGIS 3. It's already working. The output format is following the Processing format (memory layer by default, geopackage, spatialite, geojson...).
