There's a novel that I'm reading called "Stars Uncharted". There's a tool called a "genemod" there, which "modders" use for various physical enhancements, as well as "bioware". I'm thinking this will be how Opus becomes his new character, with bioware, which is seen in Chapter 9 of Earthlings
