hmm are you working on protected folder?
777 is not good permission use this

sudo chmod -R 775 storage

And have you given access to nginx server like that?

this command will help you

sudo chown -R :www-data /laravel_folder_path

And don't forget to run php artisan storage:link command

@webdesign7 yes it is. . If you are using docker i guess you will need to write docker config to make it work. I don't know much about docker.

I solved it: all I had to do is to configure the VirtualHost within Docker as per below line:
Alias /storage /var/www/html/laravelcms/storage/app/public
