Unfortunately no, I cannot accept a third-party compiled release due to security concerns. I understand that it would be good for some users to have a deb be available, or a Red Hat-friendly rpm, or a Windows exe, but providing support for all of these platforms is not something that I can dedicate time to, especially across multiple release versions. I only make use of the WAR package(running under a Tomcat server), and that packaging format is platform-compatible(because the various OS's package Tomcat), so it is provided.
Sorry I can't do anything more!
If the README instructions for deb packaging are not up-to-date or totally accurate, I would love any updates you might care to contribute, as I have not tested them myself.
