It should only stay for 4 seconds, unless you changed it yourself in the options

The button (keyboard key) is still available after the box has disappeared. The only way to avoid this is to unbind the skip segment key.
According to what you are saying, this is a bug (that the button is not disabled along with the box) and should probably be fixed.

Note that this issue does not happen with manual skip segments (as far as I can tell) so make sure you have auto skip on
Watch this and wait for sponsorblock to auto skip, then go to any time in the future (say 40:00), wait however long you want, if you hit enter (or whatever you have the skip bound to) it will bring you to the start of the unpaid promotion segment.
