Do you mean you don't even see the attribute in the product form? If the product does not belong to the family you added the attribute to, you have to add it manually. Also, when modifying a family, you have to save the product afterwards so that it gets updated with the new attributes in the family.

I provided a screenshot. The attribute appears on the product page but the drop down box to choose a value is not present.
