Issues to address when coding the check_alerts.py module:

• If most recent sensor is value "old" (> 2 hours), don't test and issue an alert.
• Don't send alerts to AlertRecipient's that have .active==False.
• Don't process AlertConditions that are not active.
• Log errors but continue processing. An error should not stop the processing of other alert conditions, other notification modes for one recipient, or other recipients.
• The values stored in the condition field of the AlertCondition where meant to be used directly in a Python eval expressions (with the exception of the inactive condition. So, you should be able to do something like:

  if eval( '%s %s %s' % (current_value, condition, test_value) ):
      # process the alert

• An inactive alert condition is True if the last sensor reading was more than 2 hours ago.
• For the default message, it should include the sensor name, it's current value, and a description of alert condition that failed.
