Questions
- Will the sensor posts work when 100 building with roughly 20 sensors / building are utilizing the system?
- Will the system hold 5 years of data from 100 buildings with 20 sensors / building?
- Existing data indicates 16.3 Bytes per reading. 100 bldgs * 20 sensors * 6 reads/hr * 8760 hrs/yr * 5 yrs = 526 million readings. 526e6 readings * 16.3 Bytes/reading = 8.6 GB. Base Webfaction account allows 100 GB. SQLite DBs > 50 GB are known, see (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/784173/what-are-the-performance-characteristics-of-sqlite-with-very-large-database-file)
- What will data analysis performance be like with 5 years of data in the database, and 100 buildings posting to the system? Compare performance against performance with the existing load on the system.
- What are the factors that affect data analysis performance?
- Rate of sensor posts
- Rate of data analysis queries
- Overall Size of Database (i.e. number of readings stored)
- Find conditions that noticeably impact the data analysis performance.
- What are the next steps to increase performance of the system.
