I assume this is a custom attribute called "dashboard" that you are adding the links to?
This should be configurable behavior, or perhaps just turned off

Dashboard is a custom attribute. By "turned off" I meant disable the logic that HTML escapes the text inside the alert, turning <a href="https://mycompany.slack.com/app_redirect?channel=labwk">labwk</a> into <a href="https://mycompanty.slack.com/app_redirect?channel=labwk">labwk</a>

so I'm not sure why your HTML brackets are turning into escape sequences.
Anyway, I don't think it's important because I'm pretty sure what the fix is.
