Thanks for your suggestion. I'm not sure when you would need this special unselect event.
Right now, the unselect is already handled by the select event, which is fired on any change in selection, including unselect. When you deselect an item, the select event is fired, and the method getSelection will then return an empty array in that case (as there is no selection). See for example example02_interactive.html, which will output "no item selected" when you deselect.
