I need this too. Just in case you need it, here is the error on attempting to connect to a 1.7.2/4 server:
file pyCraft-master/networking/NetworkManager.py", line 60, in run
assert packetid == "\xFD", "Server didn't respond back to handshake with proper packet!"
AssertionError: Server didn't respond back to handshake with proper packet!
It looks like you just need to update the networking part to recognize the new 1.7 handshake.

From what little I know about the protocol, he will need to update the handshake, but then will have to update the actual client too. the handshake just gets the client in the door, it does not mean it will interface properly after that point.

Please update to the new version! I love this concept but I cannot use it with my new 1.7.* server.

I have a chunk of spare time coming up (in two weeks), and may look into rewriting my version of pyCraft then.

Have you started on updating to 1.7? I have been looking at the protocol changes and it shouldn't be to bad to change it. Just need to change strings and slightly change ints. And the HandShake.

At this point 1.7 is a waste of time. 1.8 is coming out soon and I'm sure a lot of people would want 1.8 support for more of the update's life than 1.7 support for the last few weeks.

Yes that is true but even when 1.8 comes out we still have to wait a fare wile for server wrappers to update around it. And it would be nice to have this for as many versions of minecraft as possible.

1.8 support added.
Will look into updating the bots branch soon
