Hello, sorry for late response, yes sure it can be exposed to the outside to be modified, but by what it can be replaced ? since all responsces of the library are based on OpenAI APIs.

Due to certain countries or regions being unable to directly access the OpenAI API , Some people use Self-built reverse proxies like nginx to forward traffic to OpenAI API endpoint
Adding custom API endpoint or proxy options can make it more convenient for users to use.
