I have the same issue:

C:\Users\sannlo>wsl.exe -l -v
  NAME      STATE           VERSION
* Debian    Running         1

root@RD0089573:~# source .bashrc
-bash: .bashrc: line 26: unexpected EOF while looking for matching `)'
-bash: .bashrc: line 48: syntax error: unexpected end of file

Install options were for root user only

from synth-shell.

For me, fresh install WSL default Ubuntu (22.04.2)

First install system wide for default user not applied automatically.
I add this lines to my ~/.bashrc to the last line:

## synth-shell-greeter.sh
if [ -f /usr/local/bin/synth-shell-greeter.sh ] && [ -n "$( echo $- | grep i )" ]; then
        source /usr/local/bin/synth-shell-greeter.sh
fi

## synth-shell-prompt.sh
if [ -f /usr/local/bin/synth-shell-prompt.sh ] && [ -n "$( echo $- | grep i )" ]; then
        source /usr/local/bin/synth-shell-prompt.sh
fi
