@nroduit : Thank you . Finally I can reproduce it. Seems it is when a track change happens when it is minimized. I will redraw the screen when it is restored. Let me know if that solves the problem.

+1 I am having this problem too on a rather clean install of LinuxMint 18, Guayadeque installed from PPA.
After having the player minimized for a while just the borders come back like in the picture of @samcv.
I can fix it by maximizing/resizing sometimes or restart the player.

Thank you for this great player by the way. Its by far the best I have ever used on linux.

Oh just would like to add. I saw the bug on both the git and also on the release version so it is in both.

I am trying to replicate the problem but cant do it here with xubuntu. Will install Kubuntu to see if I can get the problem to happen for me.

I have the same problem on Archlinux with i3 window manager. There it is easy to reproduce:

  1. open guayadeque, start playback
  2. open another app like firefox on the same workspace
  3. switch to firefox and stay in that window
  4. wait for one track to finish and wait for the next track to begin playback automatically
  5. switch back to guayadeque
  6. guayadeque content has disappeared

@anonbeat Is there any way to produce a helpful debug log? Then i could do that…

I have a workaround for that to get back the content: I saved the layout when it was working and content was there. When content disappears, i go to view->load layout.

I will install archlinux with i3 and try it out because I could not reproduce it otherwise

Strubbl avatar Strubbl commented on August 26, 2024

Cool. I think it is only an i3wm problem. Try installing that window manager in your Ubuntu at first.

I forgot to mention one very important condition to reproduce it: You have to listen to two music titles. After the first has finished and it switches to the second one, the content is gone. Of course you can fast forward near to the end of track one. So that only some seconds music of that track are left. Then switch to the second e.g. firefox window before guayadeque starts to play the second song. When the second has started, you can switch back to see "no content"

I had installed LinuxMint 18 with kde trying to reproduce the problem and installed i3wm on it. And cant reproduce the problem also

anonbeat avatar anonbeat commented on August 26, 2024

I also think its something related to the window manager + support for wxWidgets

robingroppe avatar robingroppe commented on August 26, 2024

And you didnt reproduce it?
Have you tested it in a VM?

anonbeat avatar anonbeat commented on August 26, 2024

Yes could not reproduce it... Yes tried all on virtualbox machines.
In my main OS xubuntu never happened something like this

samcv avatar samcv commented on August 26, 2024

I am having this issue with Arch Linux and KDE, so I don't think it has anything to do with window managers...

Strubbl avatar Strubbl commented on August 26, 2024

Hey @anonbeat , if i can help creating a trace to debug or something like this, just tell me how to create that.

from guayadeque.

anonbeat avatar anonbeat commented on August 26, 2024

@Strubbl need a way to reproduce it in my system so I can check in what situations the screen is not refreshed correctly.

from guayadeque.

nroduit avatar nroduit commented on August 26, 2024

It can be reproduced with LinuxMint 17 or LinuxMint 18 (cinnamon):

  • Just minimize the application and wait 2-3 minutes
  • After displaying again, the result is:
    screen
  • The workaround is resizing the window or waiting the start of a new song

nroduit avatar nroduit commented on August 26, 2024

Thanks, it seems OK now.

@anonbeat That seems to have fixed it, awesome.
