VM ip is not set using ansible vmware_guest about community.vmware HOT 10 CLOSED

I am also fighting with this issue

• Ansible 3.4.0
• Guest: Debian 10 & open-vm-tools
• ESXi 6.7

@ChavaliShr I see, "guest_tools_status": "guestToolsNotRunning", in console log. Please try restarting vmware-tools or openvm-tools service and re-try.

I have exactly the same problem.
If I check on configuration options on the vm settings I do not find any customization. Ansible do not give any error
I checked the vm and open-vm-tools correctly create the configuration file for the nic but without any ip dns etc.

@vstoppe do you have perl installed in your vm template? I got the same problem fixed by updating the vm template with perl installed.

im not sure, but i tried to completely delete ens192 from my template and seems to work
