There is already an open issue to track this #162 and we are working on it.

Experiencing the same here it seems. I installed the extension on Windows running VSCode in WSL: Ubuntu, but the extension seems to be inactive. At least I don't see any auto-complete.

Did I miss something?
This extension doesn't currently declare any custom file type. It works on top of a YAML language server.

This issue is now open for around 4 month !?
I experience the same reported issue on Windows running VSCode in WSL: Ubuntu.
The extension in VS Code shows for Runtime Status = Not yet activated.
So, looks like with Runtime Status = Not yet activated. --> none of the features of the extension is willing to work:
- Syntax highlighting
- Validation
- Integration with ansible-lint
- Smart autocompletion
- ...

This extension is entirely unusable. Running VSCode latest + WSL and seeing all the same issues above.
Edit: It seems that this plugin does not play well with the RedHat YAML extension (redhat.vscode-yaml), which is required for Jira/Bitbucket integration. Disabling redhat.vscode-yaml, and subsequently atlassian.atlascode, fixes the issue. This needs to be addressed.

@rothman857 Thank you for finding that side effect with the RedHat YAML extension (redhat.vscode-yaml) !!
I have tried it on a Linux Mint v20.x machine.
After disabling the RedHat YAML extension --> the RedHat Ansible extension started to work as described.
I will try the same on my Windows 10 + WSL (Ubuntu) machine.
I fact ... since RedHat is the owner of both the extensions ... this could be easily addressed and hopefully fixed soon.
