Eval consists of two steps: Compile and Run.
If your expression is not changed frequently, you can precompile it and keep in memory resulting program. This will save some time on runtime.
- Eval
- Compile
- Parse
- Type check
- Compile to bytecode
- Run bytecode
- Compile
It's a good strategy to precompile it and save into memory and avoid unnecessary work.
