Did you sudo to pip install or use a virtualenv?
Can you try pointing your config's SQLALCHEMY_DATABASE_URI to a sqlite on /tmp? I think if you sudo pip install the sqlite db ends up in a non writable location.
I'll change the default to /tmp/panoramix.db or ~/.panoramix for the temporary sqlitedb
from superset.
