I am indeed not sure. I initially thought a branch per experiment (containing a README summary of technical data issues during the beamtime, the geometry and a mask), but this is going to make for a very leafy tree.
So I would suggest a single branch for "geometry files", and enforce a particular naming strategy.
e.g. YYYYMMDD-experimentID-CrystFEL.geom. So for Marius this would be:
20220207-cxilz0720-CrystFEL.geom and
20220207-cxilz0720-CrystFEL.mask
That way they should automatically arrange in chronological order for the end stations.

Although I would really like a Readme with technical data related issues for every experiment. Maybe there could be a Wiki page for this, and users are encouraged to write a short report after the beamtime that gets publicized? For example, if I look back at my mask file 2 years from now, it would be good to know why it's so overkill fr this experiment...
