Gmail as email service about cabot HOT 6 CLOSED

Yeah this is annoying, see also #56. Really it would be nice to configure this stuff from the UI like you can in e.g. Jenkins but there are bigger fish to fry. I'd be happy for us to add a configuration option for this.

Gmail works for me without changing settings.py with the following settings in conf file:

SES_HOST=smtp.gmail.com
SES_USER=<gmail login WITHOUT @gmail.com>
SES_PASS=<password>
SES_PORT=465

Oh, and CABOT_FROM_EMAIL variable is ignored but thats just a Gmail "feature" (http://stackoverflow.com/a/1332803/2693875).

I've tried the given recommendations but I still can't make it send emails. I've worked on both production.env and settings.py file setting the variables but still nothing.

Can you explain ?

UPDATE: I have opened a new issue for my problem as it's not clear whether it's Gmail-related at all. See: #217
