@biqas That's a great question. Typically when sending a notification you want to target a platform-specific API so you can format the notification body for that platform. In that case the "send notification" API call should succeed and the code should handle the "no targets found" result if you are retrieving the per-message telemetry. That telemetry can be useful to know that you don't have any device registrations for a particular platform.
Templates provide a way to target multiple platforms with a single "send notification" API call. You can create the installation using a template, with the platform-specific content in the template body (note: you'd need to handle the platform-specific logic when creating the installation) and then send to all (registered) platforms in a single call.
