`python setup.py sdist` should not include the binaries about python-soundfile HOT 6 CLOSED

I had the same problem, this is just an artifact of building the wheels first.

If you delete all the temporary stuff (build/*/__pycache__/*.pyc), it should create the expected sdist without binaries.
I don't know what actually causes this, I just deleted everything and then it worked ...
I didn't find an option to python setup.py that somehow clears the temporary stuff.

That doesn't seem to be true. I am deleting all the temporary stuff prior to building the sdist, but it still includes all the binaries.

I just tried it again, and it seems to work if you remove PySoundFile.egg-info!

That solved it! Do you have any idea about whether we should publish a source distribution?

I think we should, since it's the lowest common denominator and it contains much more information than the pure wheel.

While we're at it, I don't think it makes much sense to upload the wheels (or any package) to the release page (https://github.com/bastibe/PySoundFile/releases), I think it would be much more helpful to put a link to PyPI there.
