Agreed, I'm hoping that we don't have to abandon the simple server builder to do some automatic conversion of the exceptions into failure status responses. This is on the radar.

Error messages from execute now come down with some context, and StatusRuntimeException thrown by grpc internals should yield at least the status that they were thrown with.
