Who are you? Where are you from?

  • My name is Fernando J. Bermúdez Medina!
  • I am currently living in Seattle, WA, but I'm originally from Ponce, PR!

What do you do for a living?

  • I am currently Software Engineer at Apple as part of the Evolve Rotational Program.
    • In my current rotation I'm working as a Applied Machine Learning Research Engineer in the AMP AI/ML Video Recommendations Team under the Apple Services Engineering Organization
    • Previously, I worked as a Data Engineer on the Eval Searc & Auto-Complete Data Scienc team under the Maps Organization

Where did/are you going to school?

  • I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science & Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico - Mayagüez Campus.
  • I am currently in the process of obtaining my Master of Science in Computer Science (with a specialization in Machine Learning) from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Did you do any internships before graduating?

  • I did! I was a Software Development Engineering Intern at Amazon in Summer 2021, and a Software Engineering Intern in Summer 2022 with Meta!
  • I also worked as an Instructor for the Data Structures course in UPRM from 2020-2023.
