There's no multiple API calls. The workflow makes 1 request to get the API rates and saves the response for 1 day, every calculation uses the stored file in your device.

It's possible that Alfred ends the execution of the script before the rates are saved so next time Alfred runs the code, the workflow will attempt again to get the rates. You are welcome to make some tests and submit a PR if required.

Thanks for the reply — just come back to this to take a look and can confirm that it's working as you mention. I can see there has been a single call today, and conversions are seemingly instant (I feel it took a while before…).

Not sure what's changed, or if there Alfred was doing something in the background, but seemingly seems correct now ¯_(ツ)_/¯
