I tried to reproduce the issues you mentioned without much success (I'm using fiefox 3.6.12 too).
Might it be some plugin that you've added to firefox?

I'm running archlinx and the packages firefox.
Point 1:
Might be worth mentioning that I also can't use shortcuts when focused on any flash element. Like youtube videos.
Point 2:
Other people I work with experienced the same error.
One guy ( using a mac ) that has been using jsmvc a lot longer than I, said that this issue has only recently started observing this behaviour on the main site.
