Using smarter curl gives about 2x speed up for this subset
from herbie.archive import Herbie

H.download("(?:U|V)GRD:.*mb.*", overwrite=True, verbose=False)With smarter curl ranges, the above example downloads these 14 fields with 6 cURL commands instead of 14 because many of the grib messages are adjacent to each other.
