I've been meaning to ask Isaac how I should go about this, seeing that node-iconv needs to be told where the nodejs header files live. I'll ping him tonight.

Status update: npm doesn't know (where the headers live) but I got Ryan to accept a patch that adds pkg-config support. That will take some time to settle but I expect that once node 0.3.0 goes stable, I'll be able to release node-iconv as a npm module.

I've been trying to accomplish the same thing by mixing Makefiles and wscripts but that rapidly descended into a maintenance nightmare (and quite a few wasted hours tracking down bugs in node-waf).

Node's build process is in somewhat of an upheaval. I'm afraid this might just take a little longer.

Could you check out the npm branch and run npm install .? It works for me but I'd like some additional feedback before I publish it.
