Make sure it has a column called geometry in it. If it doesn't you will have to join it to census geometry data, from the same link posted above.

Ok. I'm guessing I should read this pdf first about how to use the data finder on ipmus. I just created a new account. There is no geometry column on the 1976-2022-house.tab data set. By variables do you mean... age, race, gender, religion, etc?

OK, so you need to download the geographies from the census, and join them to the 1976-2022 dataset. They will be present in the GIS Files Tab. For variables, correct.

I tried to push up my gis file to the repo, but github is complaining about the file size. I found something called git LFS that I can try and see if that works.

Don't worry about pushing the data files into github. YOu only need to push the code and the final product.
