Can you repro this with any of the sample projects? I upgraded to NuGet.Core 2.7 and was able to build the samples in VS2010 and MSBuild.

I'll give that a try tomorrow. Unfortunately the problem does not exist on any of my one machines, but on a machine of one of my colleagues abroad.

I did not reproduce, but I fixed the issue. For that I did 2 things:
- Build agains NuGet.Core 2.7.
- Changed the logic in NuPackage.BuildPackage, especially to take the using out that would immediately dispose the spec file after the constructor of NuGet.PackageBuilder was finished.
Personally I think the second item did the trick, but my colleague did not have the time to test the changes in isolation.
I don't see how I can re-open the issue after you closed it :-(.

The package builder constructor workaround was applied in 1.7.0.
