@michaelficarra Thanks for your input. In my opinion, it's a matter of preference here. I was inspired by iTunes and Pinterest, who use the dominant color, so that's what I went with and that's what the plugin provides.
To achieve the harmonious color, it's not too difficult though.Here's a demo and its corresponding code. I am using a neat library called Pusher Color to obtain the complement.
