Most likely an Euler angle rotation axis order issue. I had this problem as well, for the smartphone HMD. I rotate in YZX order for Collada files. I think that should be ZYX order for the default Three.js axes.

I think this was an artifact of having the virtual floor really far away from the camera. I don't notice it now that the floor is at a reasonable position.

Perhaps the floor was being clipped by the far plane at an angle and it
made it look like it was tilting without a depth cue to understand it.
