Hey @mudged, thank you for trying out Olric.

In Olric, you cannot lock an already inserted key. So, you should try using a different key to acquire the lock on a specified key.

For example:

lock, err := dm.Lock(ctx, "lock.my-key", 1*time.Second)
if err != nil {
	log.Fatalf("Failed to get lock: %v", err)
}
err = lock.Unlock(ctx)
if err != nil {
	log.Fatalf("Failed to release lock: %v", err)
}

Initially, this may look weird, but Olric implements the same algorithm proposed by Redis authors. We should improve the API documentation. You can find a document regarding the design here: https://github.com/buraksezer/olric?tab=readme-ov-file#locking

from olric.

Hi @buraksezer - thanks for the prompt response.

This explanation make sense and I'm able to lock for a non-existent key

Thanks!
