Working on Hand gesture detector Here's an insight of what's going on under the hood! 1. Calculation of convex hull 2. Detecting contour edges 3. A Mask is prepared as shown in the left with '1' as the bright color which represents our hand and '0' as all the other objects. 4. Now the calculation of area is done and taking into consideration the errors which are represented by dots. The gesture is guessed. For Instance say, If the number of dots as observed in the video is 3 , then the number of fingers opened are 4.
