Having discussed it, Calliope already provides this, if the user is willing/able to create a separate .yaml file defining just the supply technologies that act as providers of the main fuels. Then you have a different file for the conversion technologies. Changing the documentation to reflect this possibility is easier than any fundamental Calliope change.
