I presume the option "Use console window title" is checked.

As described in the help:
Activates support for changing window/tab title from the shell ('title' command in cmd.exe).
Note: If on, 'Rename Tab' menu command will not work properly.

This behavior is inherited from the original project (Console2).
I admit that the behavior can be improved to be more consistent.

It works. I turned off console windows title, show command in tabs and set the title to empty.
Note: In the old console2 app, I don't think I changed any settings, and when I entered a name for the tab it didn't go away.
When user enters ^R and enters a tab name, it shouldn't go away. Granted that there is a workaround but users are likely to be confused, like I was.

I like this app much better. With the console2 app you cannot tell which tab is active. Sometimes the non-active tab used to be highlighted. The vertical and horizontal splits are good features.

After testing all options, I understood the meaning of "Use console window title":
the tab's title contains only the current command
so when this option is checked,renaming the tab does not make sense

I can forbid the tab's renaming when this option is checked (display a warning instead).
